You don't want to just talk about your problems, you also want practical, down to earth solutions to help you feel better. ​I'm a big fan of helping people see how bright and beautiful they are while challenging them to explore personal growth. You've probably had enough people in your life telling you who you should be and what you should or shouldn't want. I won't be another one of those people....you're not going to be told what to do. Instead, we'll figure out what you want and I'll help you build the skills or mindset to get it.

People who work best with me generally want the following: 
​-a therapist that keeps it real but also keeps a safe, professional container;
-kinda wanna have fun, laugh, and make jokes in therapy; 
- need truth bombs, challenging, and accountability;
-to express their own self agency;
-confidence to live life by their own rules;
-practical, down to earth solutions;
-incorporating mind, body, personal strengths, culture, and soul;
-to cuss, cry, or wear slippers to our appointments (my clients have made it clear that it's important to tell prospective clients that dropping f-bombs is welcomed);

Most importantly, you want to know that you're being heard, and won't be judged, shamed, or told you're a terrible person.
People who don’t work well with me are those who:
-would rather work in person instead of telehealth, I'm only doing telehealth at this time; 
-are seeking conventional westernized therapy methods based on illness/disease models; 
-are more interested in traditional talk therapy where they do most of the talking (I do a lot of teaching and practicing in sessions to make sure my clients know how to do the things we're talking about, and I will interrupt dysfunctional thought patterns to build healthier patterns); 
-want homework (practice becomes organically built into lifestyle rather than structured and forced); 
-don’t like swear words;
-have personal beliefs against diversity, equity, and inclusion: this isn't a political statement and these aren't things we'll necessarily talk about in therapy. This is just an open statement about my value of support and acceptance for all people around me who aren't trying to be assholes and are trying to be healthy people for the world at large. I'm a work in progress, but people who don't share this value might not enjoy working with me so much. 
​I’ve been a Clinical Social Worker for 15 years, and an educator and advocate for much of my life. I value action, problem solving, traditional healing, diversity, the natural life force that runs through us, flowing along with nature, and a balance with modern science and technology.

​I try to make a habit of ending sessions with people feeling better and not feeling terrible after we talk about some deep shit. You've already gone through a lot, you deserve an experience that feels more like drinking a warm, cozy cup of tea, and not like you're still walking on broken glass.

Need HELP with budgeting or money relationship?

I am a YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach, which means that I have been trained to coach people on using YNAB software and the YNAB budgeting method. I have met select requirements of You Need a Budget LLC in order to receive this certification, which means that I have the ability to competently coach YNAB to others. I am not an employee of YNAB, and all non-YNAB related opinions and recommendations are my own. My views do not reflect the views of YNAB and its employees or its affiliates.
